High-quality medical talent cultivation underpins the advancement of the Healthy China strategy and the sustainable improvement of national public health capabilities, as the New-Era University Education Community was officially inaugurated at Fudan University Shanghai Medical College on August 18. The new alliance aims to build a systematic, collaborative and high-standard system for cultivating outstanding medical professionals tailored to national strategic demands.

Three core developmental guidelines have been outlined to steer the community’s operation. First, the alliance will clarify its strategic positioning and strengthen integrated medicine-education development. It will fully align with the national Education Power Initiative and the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Health, implement standardized medical education policies, and consolidate the foundational framework for high-caliber medical talent training.

Second, it will uphold the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education, deepen the cultivation of medical humanities and professional literacy, and focus on nurturing competent physicians with rigorous professionalism and compassionate medical ethics.

Third, it will mobilize multi-party resources, promote educational innovation, and facilitate in-depth integration of talent training, disciplinary construction, clinical service delivery and research achievement transformation. By embedding people-centered medical philosophy throughout the full educational process, the community supports the systematic development of a high-quality medical talent training system with Chinese characteristics.

Officials highlighted that the community creates an innovative pathway for comprehensive moral education reform in medical higher education. The alliance will enhance ideological guidance by capitalizing on disciplinary strengths in medicine and social sciences, innovate curriculum-based moral education, and advance integrated ideological education covering primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. It will reshape modern talent cultivation models by expanding a three-dimensional practical system integrating clinical practice, public health service and scientific research innovation, while optimizing the joint mentoring mechanism consisting of university academic supervisors, frontline clinicians and industrial instructors. It will also improve long-term collaborative mechanisms, break institutional barriers across universities, hospitals and enterprises, summarize scalable educational practices, and develop distinctive and influential medical education brands.

Operating as a non-profit voluntary cooperative organization under a council governance system, the community comprises 107 member units upon its launch, including 64 universities, 27 hospitals, 15 enterprises and public institutions, and one social organization.

Guided by national strategic principles, the community promotes coordinated progress in education, technology and talent development. It unites governmental, academic, clinical and industrial forces to integrate medical education chains, talent pipelines, industrial chains and innovation chains. Through sustainable mechanisms for joint curriculum development, faculty resource sharing, collaborative scientific research, medical cultural cultivation and practical base co-construction, the alliance builds a closed-loop comprehensive education ecosystem. It strives to forge a united community of shared mission, responsibility and growth, cultivating virtuous and skilled medical talents to safeguard public health and fuel the high-quality development of Healthy China.
